2016: HB 402 – Work-based Learning Opportunities
Session 2015-16Sponsored by Rep. Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee), House Bill 402 encourages employers to provide work-based learning opportunities for students aged 16 and older. Work-based learning affords companies the unique opportunity to take ownership in developing qualified future employees and allows students to gain knowledge and experience in a workplace setting while receiving academic credit. HB 402 seeks to further stimulate these mutually beneficial opportunities by authorizing insurers to grant up to a 5 percent workers’ compensation rate reduction to employers who offer work-based learning opportunities.
